Experimentell, international, verwegen, unabhängig – so oder so ähnlich klingt diese Konzert- und Performancereihe. Das Spektrum reicht von Noise über Postrock, Elekronischer Musik bis zu Groove und House, gemeinsam ist allen eine starke Verbundenheit mit der regionalen Musik- und Kulturszene – ein besonderer Blick gilt dabei oft dem Ruhrgebiet. Dieser polyzentralen Stadtregion, in der sich die Mitglieder einer Subkultur nicht wie anderswo in bestimmten Vierteln ansiedeln, wird immer wieder das Fehlen bohemistisch-hedonistischer Milieus und künstlerisch-alternativer Lebensentwürfe attestiert. Zwar bekam der “alternative Untergrund” hierzulande in der medialen Euphorie seit der Kulturhauptstadt 2010 kurzfristig seinen festen Platz in der kreativwirtschaftlichen Verwertungskette zugewiesen, was jedoch die Lebenswirklichkeit der unabhängigen Musikszene mit all ihren Konflikten kaum widerspiegelte. Wir verlassen darum die theoretische Ebene und wollen hinschauen und vor allem hinhören, wo und wohin der Offstream fließt. Außerdem richten wir den Blick auf unsere europäischen Nachbarn und möchten Kooperationen mit gleichgesinnten Partnern eingehen wie beispielsweise dem niederländischen Festival November Music.

„Experimental, international, daring, independent – this, or anything like that, is the sound of the concert- and performance series „Blaues Rauschen“ (blue static/noise). The spectrum ranges from noise to postrock, electronica, groove and house. What the artists have in common is strong ties and affinity with the local musical and cultural scene – often with a special regard to the Ruhr-Area. It is a poly-centric region of cities in which the members of a subculture do not settle in certain quarters, as it is common in metropolis. The absence of such a bohemian and hedonistic milieu as well as an artistic and alternative life design issoften pointed out. Admittedly, the „alternative underground“ shortly got an established place in the creative industries’ economic chain over the course of the European Capital of Culture 2010 and the media turning euphoric. But this does not nearly mirror the reality, with all its conflicts, of the alternative music scene. Because of that we are leaving the theoretical level and would like to look at and above all listen to where in which direction the “Off-Stream” flows. Furthermore we direct our attention towards our European neighbours and would like to form collaborations with like-minded partners like the Dutch festival “November Music”.
